What owners report

Most praised
  • Cloth-diaper parents say the wide opening is the first pail mouth that takes a stuffed cloth diaper without a shove
  • Parents like the true hands-free routine, since the pedal and trap door mean no hand touches the lid
  • Owners say bag changes feel quick once learned, because the access door and cutter are in one place
Common complaints
  • Some owners buy Classic refills by mistake and discover they do not fit the Plus pail
  • A few report the trap door catching on a bulky diaper and needing a second pedal press
  • Owners note the large body is hard to hide in a small nursery, even though the colour is neutral

What owners report

Most praised
  • Parents say the Classic is the Dekor that actually fits the space beside the changer without rearranging the room
  • The pedal routine gets praise from parents holding a baby, since no hand is needed to open the pail
  • Owners like that the pail arrives ready, with the refill already inside and no assembly at newborn time
Common complaints
  • Some owners find the opening snug for larger toddler diapers after months of easy newborn use
  • A few report the refill running out sooner than the newborn figure suggests, once diapers grow
  • Owners note the white body shows scuffs from the pedal and access door over time

Our recommendation

Choose by room and diaper size, not by price tier. If you have cloth diapers, bulky toddler diapers or a room with space, take the Plus: the largest opening and the largest body make the hands-free system feel effortless. If your nursery is ordinary-sized and your diapers are ordinary-sized, take the Classic: the same pedal and trap-door system in 15 litres, without the floor space the Plus demands. Both need their own refill size, so the size you choose on day one is the refill you buy for years.

Size and capacity

Plus is 26 litres, Classic is 15 litres. That gap decides emptying frequency and floor space, not just capacity on paper. Plus suits heavy-change households and cloth; Classic suits an ordinary nursery where a large pail would dominate the corner.

Opening width

Plus has the largest opening in the Dekor range, per the maker, which is the deciding factor for cloth and bulky diapers. Classic has a smaller opening that still handles ordinary diapers easily, but will struggle sooner with a stuffed cloth diaper or a large overnight diaper.

Refill specificity

Both use size-specific refills, and the sizes do not interchange. Plus refills fit Plus pails only, Classic refills fit Classic pails only. The label inside the access door states the size, so check it before every refill order, whichever size you choose.

System and material

There is no system difference: both use step, drop, done with a spring trap door, both arrive assembled with a refill installed, and both use 70 percent recycled ABS, per the maker. The choice is purely size, which makes it an easier decision than most pail comparisons.

Choose Diaper Dekor EKO Plus Diaper Pail, Gray if…

  • You use cloth diapers or bulky toddler diapers
  • Your nursery has floor space for a large pail
  • You want the longest gap between bag changes
  • A wide opening matters more than a small footprint

Choose Diaper Dekor EKO Classic Diaper Pail, White if…

  • Your nursery is ordinary-sized and space is tight
  • Your diapers are ordinary disposables, not bulky cloth
  • You prefer a lighter, easier-to-empty body
  • You want the Dekor system without the Plus footprint

Questions, answered

Can I use Plus refills in a Classic pail?

No. Dekor refills are size-specific, and Plus, Classic and Mini refills do not fit across sizes. Check the label inside the access door before ordering.

Is the Plus worth it if I do not use cloth?

Only if you have bulky diapers or a heavy-change household that benefits from the larger body and wider opening. For ordinary disposables in an ordinary room, the Classic gives the same system with less floor space.

Which is easier to empty?

The Classic, because a smaller, lighter bag is easier to lift out of the access door. The Plus bag is larger and heavier when full, which is the price of its longer interval between changes.
