What owners report

Most praised
  • Kitchen tile stays streak-free because the roller is rinsed before it reaches the hallway
  • Hair wrapping around the brush dropped sharply compared with the owner's previous bristle roller
  • The station routine means weeks pass without touching dust, water or pads
Common complaints
  • The roller needs a rinse-tank routine that pad owners never think about
  • Its best work is on hard floors, and carpet-heavy buyers feel the premium less
  • Station alerts about water and detergent arrive more often than owners expected

What owners report

Most praised
  • Tile grout lines look cleaner after a month of roller mopping than after pad mopping
  • The roller picks up long pet hair without the brush roll tangles of older robots
  • Sale pricing makes the roller system feel like a step up rather than a splurge
Common complaints
  • The wash tray collects grit that owners must rinse out by hand now and then
  • Thick rugs get vacuumed well but mopped lightly, which is the roller trade-off
  • Its station is bulkier than the slim docks on pad-only rivals

Our recommendation

Buy the X9 PRO OMNI if you mop daily and want the newest lift system, stronger tangle handling and the longest hands-free station interval. Buy the X8 PRO OMNI if you want the roller idea at a lower sale price and can accept an older lift system and a bulkier station routine. The roller itself is the shared advantage; the X9 refines everything around it.

Roller generations

Both use the OZMO roller that self-washes continuously, so both avoid the dirty-pad problem of spinning pads. The X9's roller sits in a newer station and lift architecture, while the X8's roller is the original implementation that proved the concept. On hard floors the cleaning difference is smaller than the price difference.

Lift and tangle systems

The X9 adds a triple lift system for roller, brush and side brush, plus ZeroTangle 3.0. The X8 uses the earlier lift and ZeroTangle 2.0 generation. In mixed-floor homes the X9 adapts to carpets and thresholds more gracefully; in mostly hard-floor homes the X8's simpler system is enough.

Suction and airflow

The X8 actually posts the higher suction figure at 18,000Pa against the X9's 16,600Pa, but the X9 pairs its figure with BLAST airflow tuned for carpet pickup. Raw Pa does not tell the whole story here, since airflow design and roller contact matter as much on hard floors.

Stations and value

The X9's OMNI station claims up to 150 days of hands-free maintenance with hot water washing and heated air drying. The X8's station covers the same jobs with an older routine and a bulkier footprint. At sale prices the X8 is the value roller; at full prices the gap narrows and the X9's refinements win.

Questions, answered

Is the X9 worth the premium over the X8?

For daily moppers and mixed floors, yes: triple lift, newer tangle handling and a longer station interval are real upgrades. For occasional moppers on hard floors, the X8 delivers the core roller benefit for less.

Do they use the same roller refills?

No. Roller and station consumables differ by generation, so check parts for your exact model before stocking up. Cross-generation parts are not interchangeable.

Which is better on carpet?

The X9, on the strength of its BLAST airflow and triple lift. The X8 vacuums carpet competently but its roller system is tuned first for hard floors.
